FOSTERING

Fostering is an excellent way for busy people to have the pleasure of owning a dog without some of the long term commitment attached. We foster dogs for two main reasons:

They have been in kennels for some time and need a break.

They have minor medical or behavioural issues that need maintaining or working on

 Normal Fostering:

Many of the dogs that are available under the normal foster scheme are dogs that would appreciate a quieter household, but we do sometimes have dogs that are able to live with children, other dogs and cats available for foster.

We hold 2 set fosters each year, in addition to the yearly fostering, one at Christmas and one during Easter. The reason for this is because of the Long Holidays at this time of year. Often people who would like to own a dog but are just too busy will foster a dog, during these times the selection of foster dogs is much wider then the rest of the year and may include young adult dogs.

We Encourage people that are not going to have loud parties or lots of friends and family around during these times to think about giving a dog a chance in their home.

During the dogs stay with you, we ask that you keep a diary of of the dogs activities, it's likes and dislikes and some other general information that will make the rehoming of the dog easier upon their return to the Dogs' Home.

You can of course, if you wish, adopt your foster dog and live a long, happy life together.

Due to the popularity of our fostering scheme we are not able to post pictures of the dogs as they change daily. We would advise that you come down to the Home, chat with our staff and meet a few of our foster dogs if this is something that you would like to do.

Fostering Dogs with Medical or Behavioursl Issues:

If you have a particular interest or ability to foster dogs with medical issues or minor behavioural problems you can view the dogs that are currently in need of the extra attention and a home environment.

Once you have selected a dog that you think you are able to help please contact us for further information about the dogs specific requirements
To apply to foster a dog please contact the Dogs’ Homes.
